There are several popular awards given out in hockey each year to recognize the top players, coaches, and teams in the sport. Some of the most notable awards include:

 

The Hart Memorial Trophy:

This award is given to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team during the regular season. It is voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association (PHWA) and is considered to be the most prestigious individual award in the NHL.

 

The James Norris Memorial Trophy:

This award is given to the NHL's top defenseman during the regular season. It is voted on by the PHWA and is considered to be one of the most coveted awards for defensemen.

 

The Vezina Trophy:

The Calder Memorial Trophy:

The Conn Smythe Trophy:

This award is given to the most valuable player during the playoffs.
